The Boudoir Sessions – It’s been about a year, since I’ve been wanting to add this line of photography to the services we provide. I even had the name picked out and finally here it is; Encanto Boudoir by Monica Salazar.

Boudoir photography is for the everyday woman that wants to have this shoot to give as a gift to their special someone or even just for yourself. My style will vary on what you like and it can be from subtle to sexy, but still keeping it classy and adding a bit of sensuality to the look of your images.

How to Choose Your Wedding Photographer -

Get a Referral from Friends: The number one way to hire a great photographer is to get a referral from a friend who has been recently married and LOVED their photographer.

See Their Personal Style: Really take a hard look at their work. Do YOU love their work? Don’t just go off an event planner or venue’s list. Often they have good people to recommend but those are not your only choices. Make sure you have seen their work and that YOU like their style.

Meet on Skype or In Person: People lead such busy lives and traffic is so insane that sometimes it’s hard to meet in person. Ask your photographer for a Skype session. This will allow you to see their personal appearance, mannerisms and sometimes physical space. You will have a lot of photographers to see and this will help narrow down the choices.

Find them on popular wedding blogs: There are many great online resources and wedding blogs to find great photographers. A few of them include Style Unveiled, Style Me Pretty, The Knot , Wedding Channeland Grace Ormonde’s Wedding Style. Look at the wedding publications that match your budget. If you are looking at Grace Ormonde’s Wedding Style website expect to pay top dollar for anything you see. You can look at it for inspiration, but know that calling someone listed in their is most likely going to set you back some serious cash…but most likely worth it!

Read the photographers blog and search out what people say about them: Read their blog. It will give you a great sense of who they are as a person, an artist, a family man, a mom, etc. This insight into their personality is crucial to determining if they are a good fit for you.

Interview Them: We will be doing another post full of questions to ask your photographer, but for now, just know that whether by phone, Skype or in person, you need to interview your prospective wedding photographer.

The Real 411: Event planners, venues, little black books and especially magazines ALL have a reason for recommending someone. Sometimes it’s just because they are good, but it can also be because they are an advertiser, getting a kick back, getting referrals, etc. It doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing, it just means that you need to understand that and make sure that above all…you truly like the photographer’s work.

Victory Park and Downtown Dallas Engagement Photos | Dallas Wedding and Indian Wedding Photographers

The engagement: J-Z’s engagement session. Jatin and Zeena’s engagement session was on a pretty windy day in Dallas. We met at the American Airlines center and started our shoot there. I’m glad the weather cooperated with us overall and we were still able to get some nice shots of the happy couple. I can’t wait for their wedding in May! It’ll be a fun one and a multiple day wedding, so make sure you look out for wedding blog post in a few months.

The engagement: Lindsey and Sam’s engagement was fun and casual. I love it when couple’s like L & S have fun with their engagement session and incorporate some of their personal touches. One of the things that they added was their love for baseball & softball. You’ll see in the photos how they sported their Texas Rangers gear and even used a baseball for their save the date.

I had the opportunity to take some fun, family photos of Sofia and her two children. We met at the Stockyards in the north part of Fort Worth and walked around to capture some nice memories for them. Her son is pretty entertaining and reminds me of my daughter, with his charming personality. They’re even the same age and week apart.

Miriam is one of my current client’s for her upcoming wedding in April. She’s the first one to ask me for a portrait session for her graduation photos. Congrats by the way, since she graduated this past December with her Master’s and now works with children in speech therapy.

Miriam did tell me the day of her photo session that this was her gift to herself. That after being in school for five years and commuting on the last year it was worth it to have some memories of her big accomplishment. Congrats again Miriam!
