Tips to Make Your Wedding Photos Fabulous!

<yoastmark class=

Hi! First of all, congratulations on your engagement and upcoming wedding!

Wahoo! Your wedding day is ALMOST here! As your big day approaches, I want to share some really important tips that I’ve learned over the years. If you take care of these things in advance, your day will be that much smoother (and more fun!).

(Also, forward this blog post along to your wedding party – they play a huge role in your day, too!)

Here are over 10 Tips to Make Your Wedding Photos Fabulous!

• Keep your getting ready room tidy. A bunch of girls or guys getting ready in one room is a recipe for a HUGE mess! Ask your wedding party to keep their stuff confined to one corner, and if there are any bags you can stow away in a closet or bathroom, do it! A tidier room = a less stressful morning + more beautiful getting ready images. 🙂

• Set aside your bridal details before I arrive. Set aside any special momentos in one location so that I can take care of capturing them right away.

Bride: Dress, shoes, jewelry, perfume, invitations & stationery, special momentos…
Groom: Shoes, watch, cufflinks, tie, pocket square…
BONUS TIP: I love to photograph your wedding dress, and it’s even better if you have a pretty hanger for your dress! You can choose to have a custom hanger, or even a nice wooden hanger is great.

• If your mom or bridesmaids are helping you into your dress, make sure their hair and makeup are done and they are in their dresses when its time for you to put on your dress.

• Turn up the music! Bring a portable speaker to play your favorite playlist while you get ready – your day should be FUN! (And if loud music doesn’t make you feel calm, choose a playlist with soft piano music or no words – you do you!)

• NO SPRAY TANS OR FAKE TANS. Even if your spray tan looks fabulous in person, the chances of your skin turning orange in photos is VERY HIGH. Your natural skin tone always looks best in photos! Don’t chance it – stay natural!

• Pass along your wedding day timeline. Don’t leave anyone in the dark! Share your final timeline with your hair & makeup artists, your wedding party, and your immediate family.

• Let your family know where and when to meet for family portraits – and buffer it by 15 or 20 minutes if your family tends to run late. 😉

• Designate a photo wrangler. I recommend delegating an extended family member or friend who is in charge of gathering up your family members. Choose someone who isn’t in your immediate family (because they’ll need to be in quite a few photos), knows all the faces (because I won’t!), and isn’t afraid to take charge and organize people. I will take care of arranging people in the photo so they look their best!

• Prepare an emergency kit. You never know what you’ll need! Put one of your bridesmaids in charge of the kit, and include things like a bleach pen, sewing kit, band-aids, eyedrops, saftey pins, bobby pins, tissues, powder, chapstick, Tylenol/ibuprofen, tampons, a mirror, and SNACKS. Nobody wants to be a hangry girl in heels!

• Get your zzzzz’s. It’s a BIG day, and adrenaline can only get you so far! Set a bedtime for yourself the night before, and don’t skip breakfast when you wake up. You’ll need the energy!

A little preparation and your wedding day will be smooth sailing! I can’t wait to hang out with you two on your big day!
