The Surprise Proposal! John surprised Jessica by proposing at the Dallas Arboretum.
John emailed me about two weeks ago and told me he and his girlfriend would be getting engaged. He said in his email that he wanted to capture the moment and surprise his girlfriend with the engagement proposal. I was super excited about his plan and even more when we had the chance to talk on the phone and go over the details. John had been secretly planning his proposal to Jessica. In John’s proposal planning he even sent me a photo of his girlfriend, just so I could know when they were walking by me at the Dallas Arboretum.
How did the surprise proposal happen, well let me tell you it was a pretty exciting moment. It was awesome to capture photos of it! We arrived at the Dallas Arboretum around 11am, since John said he would be proposing to Jessica at noon. I sent him a text at 11 to let him know we were there. It was a bit nerve wrecking at times waiting around and wondering if they walked by and did she see us just waiting near the proposal area. Then 12 o’clock rolled around and more people started gathering near the spot. I started wondering for a minute if we were at the right spot after all or maybe they were running late. Luckily they were just running late. I received a text message from John telling me that they were on their way. At this point I knew it was time to pretend to be just another guest at the Dallas Arboretum. Then I saw John and Jessica walking by. I knew it was them, because Jessica was wearing her pretty green dress; which I had seen in the photo John sent to me. As soon as they walked by I started photographing them holding hands. I wasn’t sure what John was going to say or do in order for Jessica to stop. I found out later that he actually asked Jessica to see her map of the Arboretum. At this point I see that he is talking to her and then they start to kiss. Shortly after the kiss John gets down on one knee and surprises Jessica by proposing to her. He popped the question and she said Yes! John and Jessica are engaged!
