6 Tips & Tricks for Your Wedding Day

6 Tips & Tricks for Your Wedding Day by Dallas Wedding Photographer Monica Salazar. Wedding day preparations for all engaged couples.

1. Make sure there is natural light in the room where the bride or groom will be getting ready (window light). This makes a WORLD of difference in your images! Promise!

2. If possible, try to have all bridal and groom details together before the photographer arrives. (Dress, jewelry, shoes, bouquet, garter, veil, etc) This will make the detail shots go by faster!

3. Keep the area near the window free of trash, bags, snacks, etc. This will be where the bride or groom will be putting on their dress or suit/tuxedo jacket! We don’t need any water bottles, or hangers, etc in the portraits:).

4. Allow more time than you think you need to get ready! It’s better to be safe than RUSHED!

5. Relax and have fun! You’re getting MARRIED!!! I know it’s easier said than done, but when you’re relaxed and happy, that makes for some gorgeous photographs!

6. On your wedding day I’ll be there to help pose you so that you look your absolute best in every single photo. I’ll make sure you’re in the best light, posed the best way, and against the best backgrounds for all your pictures. Be mindful of your posture. When I’m posing you for your formals, I have no problem reminding people to stand up straight. However, I can’t exactly interrupt the ceremony should I notice slouching!

Tips for before the wedding:

Do a trial run of your makeup and hair. Both of you! If you can, photograph yourselves with trial hair and makeup to see how it shows up on camera. Then, make any appropriate adjustments.

Also, choose all the appropriate undergarments for your big day. From your crinoline slip to your bustier to shapewear, what you’re wearing underneath your gorgeous dress matters. Those items play a major supporting role — literally!
